As the Fedora Project continues to thrive and innovate, I’m excited to welcome new leadership. After more than 10 years as Fedora Project leader, I’ll be stepping back from the role and passing the proverbial torch to Jef Spaleta.
Jef was an early contributor to fedora.us and the Fedora Project. He was elected to the Fedora Board as a community representative at-large before living in Alaska and Antarctica for several years while studying aurora activity. During the early years of Fedora, Jef was actively involved in shaping the project and was known as an ever-present voice in Fedora’s IRC channels and mailing lists, helping users get started with Fedora, as well as contributing project maintenance work. Now that Jef has returned from his cold-weather adventures, he’s picked up his Fedora contributions where he left off.
As for me, I’m continuing my work at Red Hat and staying close to Fedora as a manager on the community Linux engineering team. Jef will formally begin his role at Red Hat in early May, and his position of Fedora Project leader in early June. In the meantime, please give a big welcome to Jef as he enters his new role!
