Challenge
Increasing upstream efficiency with AI
Aramco is enhancing upstream efficiency with enhanced digital solutions, embracing the latest in enterprise technology with digital solutions. The company's UDC is a part of its upstream business and encompasses exploration, drilling, and oil and gas extraction.
The center brings together a multidisciplinary team of experts who collaborate with stakeholders to develop advanced solutions that for key initiatives, including geological modeling, reservoir simulation, drilling optimization, and production monitoring.
To make these advances even more powerful, Aramco developed the GenAI Foundation to simplify access to GenAI services.
These efforts cannot be achieved without the great work at the Upstream Digital Center. I'm so thankful for all their remarkable efforts in collaboration with Red Hat.

Powering scalable and efficient AI deployments
The Aramco GenAI Foundation benefits from the containerized and microservices architecture of Red Hat OpenShift®. Additionally, Aramco gains the flexibility and security controls it needs to efficiently develop, deploy, and integrate large language models (LLMs).

The Aramco GenAI Foundation uses Red Hat OpenShift’s built-in observability tools to monitor and manage the environment, optimizing network access, storage, and processing power. This visibility also helps Aramco to analyze incoming request figures and forecast and scale services based on demand. The energy company also uses Red Hat Ansible® Automation Platform, a unified solution for strategic automation, to manage and configure virtual machines, reducing deployment times from weeks to hours and streamlining operations across the foundation.

Aramco's Gen AI Foundation is helping employees across the company—from developers to data scientists and engineers—approach their work in new ways.
