Red Hat has been recognized by CRN®, a brand of The Channel Company, as a winner of the 2021 CRN Tech Innovator Awards. Red Hat OpenShift came out on top in the Container Technology category, with Red Hat Enterprise Linux honored as a finalist for Hybrid Cloud Infrastructure.

This annual award program showcases innovative vendors in the IT channel across 47 different technology categories, in key areas ranging from cloud to storage to networking to security. To determine the winners, a panel of CRN editors reviewed hundreds of vendor products using multiple criteria, including key capabilities, uniqueness, technological ingenuity and ability to address customer and partner needs.

Driving container innovation with Kubernetes

2021 Kubernetes2-Blog-thumbnail.png Kubernetes is one of the fastest growing open source projects but requires additional components like management and enhanced security to truly match enterprise needs. As the industry’s leading enterprise Kubernetes platform, Red Hat OpenShift provides organizations with a powerful foundation to develop and connect diverse workloads across the hybrid cloud and accelerate the creation of cloud-native applications.

This year, Red Hat introduced new developer-friendly features to further expand use case possibilities, including enhancements for CI/CD, serverless functionality, sandboxed containers and more. Red Hat OpenShift Platform Plus was also made available this year as a holistic solution to help customers adopt DevSecOps across the hybrid cloud by integrating new levels of security and manageability.

These added features and expansions to OpenShift ultimately help organizations embrace a “shift left” approach to security by bringing together powerful Kubernetes-native security capabilities that can run in any cloud environment.

Scaling for the edge with enterprise Linux

The open hybrid cloud isn’t limited to an enterprise datacenter or public cloud environments; it includes the remote servers, advanced machinery and other devices that exist on the far reaches of the enterprise network. The disparate nature of these footprints means that consistency is critical to success. Red Hat Enterprise Linux, as the backbone for Red Hat’s edge-ready technology stack, provides the consistent, edge-native and intelligent platform to help meet the dynamic demands of the hybrid cloud, whether in a server room, a public cloud instance or at the edge.

Earlier this year Red Hat announced the latest version of Red Hat Enterprise Linux, designed to take computing power even further by offering lightweight, production-grade deployment options tailored to support edge computing.
