OpenShift Commons Validated Patterns SIG
Introduction
Upcoming Topics
Apr 15, 2025 12:00 PM EDT
Speaker: Ricardo Garcia Cavero
Subject: Service Continuity with Partner Ecosystem
Abstract: Join us for this informative discussion of an Accenture solution highlighting Red Hat, Trilio, and Dynatrace that creates a robust, automated, event-driven approach for optimizing disaster recovery and resilience in Red Hat OpenShift Virtualization-based workloads.
Agenda / Notes
Feb 18, 2025 12:00 PM EST
Speaker: Team Validated Patterns
Subject: Open discussion / Office hours
Abstract: Every second session of the Validated Patterns SIG call will be dedicated to open discussions and office hours. Come with your thoughts, questions, ideas, comments. Members of our Validated Patterns team are available to work through issues you may be running into, or simply to have discussions about Architectural Communities of Practice.
Feb 4, 2025 12:00 PM EST
Speaker: Matt Bator
Subject: OpenShift Virtualization Data Protection with Veeam Kasten powered by Validated Patterns
Abstract: In this session, Veeam will discuss their use-case for Backup and Recovery for OpenShift Virtualization and how they are helping customers and partners streamline deployment of BCDR features using the Validated Patterns framework. We will discuss the why and how of integrating Kubernetes-native data protection into the Validated Pattern framework and discussion on future direction and enhancement.
Nov 26, 2024 12:00 PM EST
Speaker: Ricardo Garcia Cavero
Subject: Interactive Video Demos. Creating engaging technical demos that anyone can conduct
Abstract: Today we will present the Interactive Video Demos made with Arcade, and how they can be a great way to show Validated Patterns in action while saving on the costs of infrastructure and time to deploy them.
Nov 12, 2024 3:00 PM MST ← Mountain Standard Time Live event at OpenShift Commons Gathering, Salt Lake City, UT
Speakers: Matt Bator, Principal - Kubernetes-Native Solutions, Veeam
Oct 29, 2024 12:00 PM EDT
Speaker: Brien Porter
Subject: Simplifying Automation for AI and Security on Intel Hardware with Validated Patterns
Abstract: We’re excited to dive into six new Validated Patterns developed by Intel that are set to streamline the way organizations automate their Intel hardware accelerators for AI and security use cases. These quick installation scripts integrate seamlessly with Red Hat OpenShift, making it easier than ever for organizations to harness the power of Intel’s cutting-edge hardware.
Our goal with these patterns is to reduce complexity and speed up deployment times so customers can focus on driving innovation. Whether it’s enhancing AI workloads or tightening security postures, these patterns are built to deliver. During the session, I’ll walk through each validated pattern, how they work, and the immediate value they bring to OpenShift environments.
Come prepared for an engaging session where we’ll explore how these automation tools can help our customers unlock new levels of efficiency and performance with Intel technology!
Oct 15, 2024 12:00 PM EDT
Speaker: Jonathan Rickard
Subject: HyperShift and Hive in Validated Patterns
Abstract: Hosted Control Planes (aka: HyperShift) is a project that enables rapid provisioning and deprovisioning of OpenShift clusters. In this session, we will discuss the use of the Validated Patterns framework to create and delete your hostedclusters and to interrogate the hostingcluster for compute resource information.
Oct 1, 2024 12:00 PM EDT
Speaker: Bernard Tison
Subject: Change Data Capture across cloud boundaries with Debezium and Service Interconnect
Abstract: Change Data Capture (CDC) is a well-known software pattern that refers to the process of capturing changes made to data in a database and delivering those changes in real-time to a downstream process, which reacts to those changes. Change Data Capture is often used in microservice architectures to propagate data between disparate services.
In this talk we will discuss CDC with Debezium, the popular open-source CDC solution.
But what if the database runs in another cloud, or even in your data center, and cannot be reached from the outside world? This is where Service Interconnect comes in. Service Interconnect allows the creation of secure service connections across cloud providers and data centers, with no VPNs or special firewall rules.
We will give a demonstration using a real-life use case of the power of Debezium together with Service Interconnect, where Debezium running in the cloud captures change data events from a database running in a different cloud, and uses the event stream to power new applications.
Sep 17, 2024 12:00 PM EDT
Speaker: Gaurav Midha
Subject: Red Hat OpenShift and MLOps
Abstract: In this session, we will see the deployment of a machine learning model using data science pipelines and how we can set up these pipelines on OpenShift AI.

Subject: Validating Edge AI Patterns for Industrial Applications
Abstract: Presenting a specific Edge AI use case: A Guise AI model is used to convert readings from analog gauges into digital data points. The model is extensible and with a bit of training can be taught to read any analog gauge. The model was developed primarily for the petrochemical industry, where it is often less expensive to add a digital camera than it is to replace analog gauges with digital ones. The pattern includes lessons learned from Guise AI on managing large fleets of semi-independent digital cameras and sensors.
